"Sleep on it": understanding the benefits of deep sleep

Dr. Maude Bouchard was recently invited to appear on Radio-Canada OHdio 's program La nuit porte conseil to talk about a subject essential to our health: deep sleep. "Just because we sleep doesn't mean our brains aren't active," says Dr. Bouchard. During this key phase of sleep, the brain is actively at work, consolidating memory, promoting the secretion of growth hormone and participating in tissue and muscle repair. A real night's work... essential for our physical and mental recovery.
